WASHINGTON -- While going to ace Clayton Kershaw on short rest helped the Los Angeles Dodgers stave off elimination in their NL Division Series against the Washington Nationals, it also has raised the question:Who will start Game 5 for the Dodgers?I know Kershaw isnt pitching, Nationals manager Dusty Baker said. Thank God.While there will be no Kershaw and LA manager Dave Roberts still has not named his starter, the Nationals will hand the ball to Cy Young Award candidate Max Scherzer in the decisive Game 5 at home Thursday night. With a spot in the NL Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs at stake, Scherzer is the man Washington wants on the mound and hes embracing the pressure.Ive kind of said over the past few days, Ive said that a handful of times throughout my career, `Hey, this is the biggest start of my career, Scherzer said Tuesday. How you handle that, going out there using the emotion of that scenario, that everything is on the line, look, Im not going to shy away from it. This is the biggest start of my career.Scherzer (20-7, 2.96 ERA) lasted only six innings and lost Game 1 after giving up home runs to Corey Seager and Justin Turner. While Scherzer is looking for some redemption, the Dodgers are looking forward to another shot at him.I mean, we beat him once already, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez said. We put some pretty good at-bats against him in Game 1, and were confident that we can do that again. The Nationals also had some good at-bats against LA lefty Rich Hill, beating him in Game 2. Hill (12-5, 2.12) will most likely be the Dodgers starter in Game 5, though Roberts will use a collection of arms and could quickly turn to fresh 20-year-old lefty Julio Urias if theres trouble.Washingtons bullpen has been strong, but Scherzer is in the spotlight.I know who Max is and how he goes about it, right fielder Bryce Harper said. I think there are things we can do in the bullpen, as well, if Max doesnt get to the ninth. Hes got a lot of help. So hopefully well get a couple of runs early and do what we can to stay with our approach and stay within ourselves (and) just have a lot of fun.Scherzer considers the big stage plenty of fun. He said it doesnt matter that its not him against Kershaw again and expects the Dodgers best effort and a charged atmosphere. Its going to be a heck of a ballgame, Scherzer said. These are two great teams. Weve seen great pitching, weve seen great offense, great bullpens, clutch hitting. Weve seen it all. So the opportunity to go out there in Game 5, back in D.C. with our fans, its going to be a heck of an experience. Some other things to watch in Game 5 between the Dodgers and Nationals:LEFT, LEFT, LEFT: The Dodgers can trot out a lineup of seven left-handed batters, starting with Chase Utley and Seager and continuing down to Gonzalez, Joc Pederson, switch-hitting catcher Yasmani Grandal and Andrew Toles. Thats a powerful crew that can do damage if Scherzer makes even a couple of mistakes.MURPH-TOBER: Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy has picked up where he left off last October with the New York Mets. Murphy is 6 for 13 with six RBI in the series but has yet to hit a home run. He had seven in the playoffs last year, including three against the Dodgers.BULLISH PEN: Nationals relievers have combined to allow two runs on 10 hits in 14 2/3 innings in the series. Lefties Sammy Solis, Marc Rzepczynski and Oliver Perez have flummoxed the Dodgers, who developed a reputation for struggling against left-handed pitchers.BAD AIM, NOT BLOOD: Pitchers have combined to hit 11 batters through four games, the most in a playoff series in major league history. Thats not because things have been chippy. I think our guys have done a lot of breaking balls to the lefties and caught their feet, Scherzer said. Thats just baseball. No one on either side is trying to hit anybody with everything on the line right now.---AP Sports Writer Greg Beacham in Los Angeles contributed.---This story has been corrected with Murphys playoff stats in this series and last year. Giorgio Chiellini Jersey .Y. -- Marcell Dareus and the Buffalo Bills defence made life miserable for Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco. Federico Bernardeschi Juventus Jersey . Reassurance came from Paul Tesori, his caddie and close friend whose newborn son is in intensive care in a Florida hospital. "Paul sent me a text this morning, just told me he loved me and wanted to go out and fight as hard as I would any other day," Simpson said Sunday after doing just that. http://www.juventusfcpro.com/Customized/ . With the first unit struggling of late and Amir Johnson - one of the teams iron men - hobbling on an injured right ankle, Patterson knew he could get the nod in a challenging matchup against one of the leagues up and coming players at his position. Leonardo Spinazzola Juventus Jersey . The visitors took a deserved lead in the 16th minute with midfielder Yohan Cabaye curling the ball beyond Adrian from inside the penalty area. Alex Sandro Jersey . LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. CHICAGO -- Patrick Kane flashed a million-dollar smile in the photo opp, beaming from behind a table topped by the troika of hefty awards he skated off with to cap a sublime season.Chicagos 27-year-old star forward broke away with the Hart Trophy as the NHLs MVP, the Art Ross as the leading scorer and the Ted Lindsay Award, given to the NHLs outstanding player by fellow skaters.Missing conspicuously from silverware haul on the opening day of the Blackhawks annual fan convention was the Stanley Cup, the championship Chicago failed to defend last spring after winning it in 2010, 2013 and 2015.Despite a first-round, seven-game playoff exit against St. Louis last April, the Blackhawks say theyre ready for another run at the Cup with a revised, younger roster. The NHLs salary cap, set at $73 million for next season, once again forced GM Stan Bowman to trim key players, most notably forwards Andrew Shaw and Teuvo Teravainen.Bowman thinks his kids, and team, will be all right. He expects top prospects, who skated in a camp in Chicago this week, to jump in and fill in several spots, especially at forward alongside stars such as Kane, Jonathan Toews and Artemi Panarin, last years Calder Trophy winner as rookie of the year.No worries for coach Joel Quenneville, either.Im very comfortable with it, Quenneville said. I see more depth on our team. I see more speed on our team.Bowman said the prospect camp, which ended on Friday, was the best weve had in terms of the caliber of player and level of play. The GM called out forwards Tanner Kero, Vincent Hinostroza and Ryan Hartman, who have played just a handful of NHL games, as exceptional.Theyve taken their game to another level, Bowman said. You can put Tyler Motte and Nick Schmaltz in there.Motte and Schmaltz, collegiate scoring stars last season, signed contracts with the Blackhawks last spring and left Michigan and North Dakota early. Schmaltz, a sophomore with the NCAA champ Fighting Hawks, said he sensed a real chance.I think Im at the point in my game where Im confident and ready to take this jump and do everything to make the NHL next year, said the rangy 20-year-old center.I think theres a good feeling all around in that theres oppoortunity that might not have been there in the past, said Hartman, a 21-year-old right wing.dddddddddddd Its kind of a good time to be here. All of the prospects are the same boat, trying to earn a spot.Bowman insists he isnt handing anything out.I think its dangerous to try to label guys to fill a role, he said. One thing I told all those guys, Im not sure which of you is going to make the team, but dont make that decision easy for us.Things are clearer on defense, where lack of depth hurt Chicago last season. Bowman signed free agent Brian Campbell to a bargain $2 million, one-year deal earlier this month to eat up minutes alongside Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Niklas Hjalmarsson.Campbell is 37, but the mobile defenseman led Florida last season with 22:16 of ice time per game and a plus-31. A member of Chicagos 2010 Cup team, Campbell says he feels great and has plenty left in the tank.Hes getting better with age and Im excited about what he brings to our team, Quenneville said. I think in the last couple of years, hes taken his game to a new level.Defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk, 24, did the same last season, staying healthy and playing all 82 games with the Blackhawks. Chicago also added 25-year-old Czech free agent Michal Kempny over the summer. Journeyman Michal Rozsival is back and Bowman has been impressed with 20 year-old Swede Gustav Forsling and 22-year-old Finn Ville Pokka.Regardless of who makes their team and where they finish, the Blackhawks will be a lot younger. It looks like we have some really good young talent that can come in and and step in right away, Kane said. I think thats something thats going to be big for us.Game notes Marian Hossa, 37, had only 13 goals last season, but said hes ready for whatever role Quenneville gives him. Hossa, who has 499 career goals, also is looking forward to skating for Team Europe in the World Cup of Hockey this September. Im sure the tempo is going to be so high, so when you come to training camp youre just going to feel like youre playing in a pickup league or something, he said. ' ' '
