INDIANAPOLIS -- All David West wanted to do Monday night was get his team playing the right way. He made sure of it. West scored 25 points in less than 27 minutes and Roy Hibbert added 14 as the NBAs top team dominated the middle and blew past short-handed Denver 119-80 for its most lopsided win this season. "We played with the right attitude. We came out aggressively. We got off to a good start," West said. "Tonight, we made a concentrated effort to get to the goal. No letdowns." For the Pacers (40-11), it was just another stepping stone victory. They still have the leagues best record, best home mark (25-2) and best defence. They still lead two-time defending champion Miami, now by four games, in the Eastern Conference. They still have not lost back-to-back games since mid-December and have not lost three straight all season. They even padded their league-leading scoring differential. And if Denver coach Brian Shaw is to be believed, they might have the best overall player in the league, too. Shaw spent the previous two seasons working extensively to help George when he served as an Indiana assistant. "Paul George is an All-Star starter, and I said this morning that hes the best two-way player in the game -- and that includes LeBron (James) and everyone else you include," the Nuggets coach said after Indiana ended its five-game skid in this series. The scariest part may be that the Pacers didnt even need George to be at his best Monday night. He finished with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists -- numbers mitigated by the fact the Pacers were so far ahead after three quarters that coach Frank Vogel rested his starters the entire fourth quarter and didnt play any of them more than 28 1/2 minutes. Instead, George was content to let West and Hibbert lead the way. Did they ever. West scored 21 of his points in the first half and finished 11 of 13 from the field, making his last nine shots. Not surprisingly, Indiana outscored Denver 58-36 in the paint. Hibbert finished with 12 rebounds on a night the Pacers had a 56-37 advantage. That, combined with Denvers depleted roster, was just too much for the Nuggets (24-26) to overcome. Denver has now lost three in a row, five of its last seven and has suffered its two most embarrassing defeats of the season in less than a week. It lost 117-90 at New York on Friday. The Nuggets also finished with a season-worst shooting percentage (31.5), far worse than their previous low mark (36.4) against the Clippers on Dec. 21. Only three players reached double figures -- Wilson Chandler with 17, J.J. Hickson with 12 and Jordan Hamilton with 11. Only 10 players dressed for the Nuggets and their top two point guards -- Ty Lawson, the Nuggets top scorer, and backup Nate Robinson -- sat out with injuries. Lawson missed the game with a fractured left rib. Robinson was out with a sprained ACL in his left knee. Randy Foye played reasonably well at an unfamiliar spot, finishing with nine points, 10 assists and only three turnovers, the Nuggets werent the same without their two playmaking ball-handlers. "We were just timid, unsure with everything we did," Shaw said. "Sometimes, youre overmatched. Tonight, we were overmatched." After trailing for the only time all night, 11-10, Indiana quickly took control. West spurred a 22-5 run that gave Indiana a 37-20 lead early in the second quarter. The Pacers then finished the half on a 14-4 run to make it 61-40, and Denver never got closer than 19 over the rest of the night. "At this point in the season, we need every win," George said. "Tonight we were able to come out early and just execute. I thought we played with a lot of energy, we shared the ball, we did a great job defensively. We forced them to take tough shots." The veteran NFL receiver received his work permit and is in Montreal for the start of the Alouettes rookie camp. I want to finish this strong.Clevelands struggling veteran will start again this week against Indianapolis after first-year coach Mike Pettine and his staff decided Hoyer would be the better option down the stretch than Manziel, who flashed some Johnny Football magic last week in a loss at Buffalo.Hoyers poor performance against the Bills — he was pulled for Manziel with 12 minutes left in a 26-10 loss — raised the possibility that Cleveland (7-5) would make another switch at the position. The Browns have had 20 starting quarterbacks since 1999.Hoyer spent an anxious 48 hours waiting to learn his fate. They werent the easiest days of my life, thats for sure, he said. Ive been through a lot, and this is one more thing to handle some adversity and it makes you stronger. Its back to business as usual.Pettine described the decision as difficult because of Hoyers performance, but said coaches put more value on his experience and success. It wasnt perfect and hes made his share of mistakes, but hes gotten the lions share of reps in practice and virtually all of them in games and has us in the thick of a playoff hunt, Pettine said. That, to me, was probably the biggest determining factor.Pettine said he told both quarterbacks his decision on Wednesday.Manziel, who led the Browns on an 80-yard touchdown drive he capped with a 10-yard run last week, was understandably disappointed. But the first-round draft pick was encouraged by his time on the field and knows his chance may not be far off.Obviously, thats a decision thats made by Coach Pettine, he said. And this week his answer was, No so moving forward whatever transpires, maybe next time the answer will be, Yes.Pettine said there was some lively discussion before the coaching staff agreed to stay with Hoyyer, who has thrown just one touchdowns pass and six interceptions in his last three games.ddddddddddddHoyer will not be on a short leash and Pettine is confident the five-year veteran and the rest of Clevelands offence can bounce back after a rough stretch. Before finalizing his decision, Pettine spoke with several players, who offered their support of Hoyer.Hes a resilient competitor, Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas said, and that says everything you need to know about him because hes not the type of guy that will feel sorry for himself. Hes not going to lay down. Hes going to prepare even harder.Manziel said he felt good about the way he played and figured he had done enough to make the decision tough on Clevelands coaches.Just being competitive, theres a little bit of disappointment, said Manziel. But at the same time I completely trust Coach Pettine with this team and I believe hes put us in the right situation going forward consistently.Comebacks arent new for Hoyer.A lifelong Browns fan, the Cleveland-area native had his boyhood wishes come true last season when he was given the starting job. He made three starts before tearing a knee ligament against the Bills.Hoyer rehabbed tirelessly to get back and while he expected the Browns to draft a quarterback, he never imagined it would be Manziel, the immensely popular former Texas A&M quarterback and college football legend.Hoyer beat out Manziel in training camp and has held him off again.I always have a fire lit, Hoyer said. Anytime someone questions you, you want to prove them wrong. Im sure there are people questioning me all along, not just this week, throughout the entire season.NOTES: Pettines not concerned about the reaction of Browns fans. The city seemed split between Hoyer and Manziel. The Dawg Pound is happiest when were winning, he said. Therefore, its what this business is all about. I think opinions will be very divided on this regardless of what had happened. ... Starting RB Isaiah Crowell was held out of practice with a hip injury. He leads the team with seven touchdowns. ... TE Gary Barnidge has a rib injury and remains day-to-day.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Stitched College Jerseys Cheap UCLA Jerseys NCAA Louisville Cardinals Jerseys North Carolina Jerseys Stitched Kentucky Wildcats Jerseys Stitched Alabama Crimson Tide Jerseys Cheap Basketball Wisconsin Badgers Jerseys Authentic NCAA Jerseys Store Wholesale Basketball NCAA Jerseys Cheap Duke Gear Stitched Alabama Jerseys Stitched Georgia Jerseys Cheap Clemson Jerseys Authentic Authentic Texas Jerseys Wholesale USC Jerseys Stitched Oklahoma Jerseys Stitched Ohio State Jerseys Cheap Notre Dame Gear UCLA Jerseys From China Cheap Louisville Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap North Carolina Jerseys Authentic Cheap Kentucky Jerseys Authentic Wisconsin Jerseys From China Cheap Michigan Gear Cheap Florida Gear Wholesale Arizona State Jerseys Cheap LSU Gear Cheap Auburn Gear Cheap California Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap Miami Jerseys Authentic Cheap Michigan State Gear Cheap Tennessee Jerseys Authentic Texas A&M Jerseys From China Authentic Wake Forest Jerseys West Virginia Jerseys From China ' ' '
