SEATTLE -- Oft-injured Mariners centre fielder Franklin Gutierrez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring Tuesday, two days after coming off the 60-day DL for the same thing. Dustin Ackley was called up from Triple-A Tacoma as Gutierrezs replacement. The 30-year-old Gutierrez has played in just 18 games this season, hitting .267 with four doubles, five home runs and 11 RBIs. He had been on the disabled list from April 23-June 21. He came off Saturday and hit a home run in his first at-bat. Gutierrez played in only 40 games last year and 92 in 2011 because of various injuries. "Im disappointed, like we all are," manager Eric Wedge said of Gutierrez. "No one is more disappointed than he is. Im sure the frustration is just off the charts for him. "When he does play for us, were a better ballclub." Ackley, the second pick in the 2009 draft who was sent down to Tacoma on May 26, hit .365 with eight doubles, two home runs and 14 RBIs in 25 games. Hes been a second baseman most of his major league career, but also played the outfield at Tacoma. "He has earned it," Wedge said. "You look at his at-bats, his consistency. He has taken care of some things mentally and put them behind him." Ackley hit just .205 with four doubles, one home run and eight RBI in his previous 45 games this season with the big club. Dustin Penner and his teammates were happy to extend the streak. Penner scored two goals and Saku Koivu had two assists in his long-awaited return to the lineup, leading the Ducks to a 5-2 victory Friday over Calgary -- their 18th straight over the Flames at Honda Center. The streak is the Ducks longest in their building against any opponent. Calgary hasnt beaten Anaheim on the road since Jan. 19, 2004; only three players on Calgarys current roster had made their NHL debut by then: Michael Cammalleri, Jiri Hudler and Matt Stajan. "I had no idea, but we know theyre in a rebuild mode now with a lot of young guys and those guys are working real hard and fighting for jobs," said Penner, who had the 13th multigoal game of his career. "A team like that can come in and surprise you if youre not ready." The Ducks were not assessed a penalty for only the fifth time in club history. "That was good," captain Ryan Getzlaf said. I mean, I didnt even know about this streak until the last game when somebody brought it up to me. We dont worry about that stuff. We didnt even talk about that before the game." Koivu, who missed 15 games with a concussion, started on a line between Cogliano and Daniel Winnik.
