WINNIPEG -- A court date has been set for a Winnipeg city councillor and former professional hockey player accused of domestic violence. Thomas Steens case is set to go before a judge for the first time June 23 on two counts of assault and one count of uttering threats. Steen played for 14 years with the National Hockey League Winnipeg Jets before he retired in 1995, and has served on city council since 2010. Steen is accused of assaulting a woman at a restaurant May 1, and has been released on conditions that he not contact the alleged victim and abstain from alcohol and other intoxicants. He has remained on council but has removed himself from the Winnipeg Police Board -- a civilian group that oversees the citys police force. Mississippi States defence did the job despite Auburns good field position. The Bulldogs held Auburn to two field goals before Marshall completed a 9-yard pass to Williams to pull the Tigers within 21-13. That quieted the cowbells for a few minutes, but they roared again late in the second quarter when Prescott ran for a 15-yard touchdown and a 28-13 lead. Thats about the time rain came to Davis Wade Stadium, making offence for both teams more difficult to sustain. Auburn pulled within 28-20 on an impressive 10-play, 99-yard touchdown drive midway through the third quarter that was capped by Marshalls 15-yard throw to Williams for the score. But as the rain continued in the second half, Marshalls passes started sailing high and the Tigers lost momentum. Mississippi State went ahead 31-20 on a 21-yard field goal with 11:33 remaining. On the ensuing kickoff, Louis fumbled and the Bulldogs recovered. Two plays later, Robinson ran for a 1-yard touchdown and the celebration began in Starkville.
