CALGARY -- A prospect for the NHL Calgary Flames has been acquitted of aggravated assault charges in a fight northwest of Calgary in 2012. A jury found Michael Ferland acted in self-defence when he threw a punch, knocking out another patron, outside Stageline Saloon in Cochrane. Both the 22-year old left-winger and his girlfriend testified at his trial in Calgary. Court heard Ferland was ambushed as he was leaving the bar.
