MINNEAPOLIS -- Zack Greinke added to his century-best run on a historic night for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Trevor Williams Jersey . Greinke pitched six strong innings, Juan Uribe had two RBIs and the Los Angeles Dodgers earned their 10,000th win in franchise history, 6-4 over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night. Greinke (5-0) struck out six and didnt allow an earned run through drizzling rain and temperatures that dipped into the 30s. He now has gone 18 straight regular-season starts of at least five innings while allowing two runs or fewer, the longest run since 1914. He also has opened a season with wins in five straight decisions for the first time since he was 6-0 in his AL Cy Young Award season of 2009. "My stuff was a lot better then," Greinke said. "Im locating better, being smarter. Ive gotten a lot of help here, nice defensive plays." The Dodgers join the Giants, Cubs and Braves as the only franchises to win 10,000 games. Manager Don Mattingly has been around for 275 of those victories. The laid-back former Yankee quipped that he might even keep a souvenir ball from this milestone victory. "If I can get one, it wouldnt be bad to have one," Mattingly said. "It feels pretty good." With the bases loaded and the Twins trailing 5-1 in the seventh, reliever Chris Withrow got Trevor Plouffe to pop out to shortstop on a 3-0 pitch to end the threat. Plouffes two-run double in the ninth made it 6-4, but Kenley Jansen retired Chris Colabello to earn his 10th save in 12 chances. "Thats why hes here. A chance for him," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said about Plouffe getting the green light on 3-0. "Get him in a fastball situation like that, thats what we want to see, and he took a rip." Adrian Gonzalez, Andre Ethier and Yasiel Puig each added two hits and an RBI. Eduardo Escobar had a career-high four hits and two RBIs for the Twins. It rained most of the day on Wednesday and a tarp covered the pitchers mound and batters box at Target Field 15 minutes before first pitch. "It was a good game for us, a little bit of weather," Mattingly said. "You didnt hear any complaining. Guys were ready to play." Greinke wasnt fazed, and won his 12th game in 17 starts since Aug. 5. The right-hander has pitched at least five innings and allowed two runs or fewer in 18 consecutive regular season starts. With Minnesota up 1-0, Drew Butera slid headfirst and touched home just ahead of Kurt Suzukis tag after Hanley Ramierz singled to left in the third. Manager Ron Gardenhire challenged the safe call by home plate umpire Chris Segal, but lost after the call was confirmed following a 2-minute replay review. Uribes two-run single made it 5-1 in the seventh. Minnesota advanced a runner at least to second base six times against Greinke, but couldnt break through beyond Escobars double. Greinke had been 0-3 with a 5.63 ERA at Target Field entering Wednesday. "I thought we made him work really hard tonight," Gardenhire said. "But hes a competitor. He always seems to find a way to get deep in the game and he makes pitches when he has to." Kyle Gibson (3-2) allowed five runs in 6 2-3 innings and lost his second consecutive start after beginning the season 3-0 with a 0.93 ERA. Twins second baseman Brian Dozier did his best to help Gibson. When Gonzalezs grounder to first took a bad hop and ricocheted of Joe Mauers shoulder, Dozier hustled over, dove, and scooped the ball to Gibson with his glove for the out. Tuesdays series opener was postponed due to wintry weather and the two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Thursday. NOTES: Dan Haren (3-0, 2.03 ERA) will start the first game of Thursdays doubleheader for the Dodgers. Mattingly said Red Patterson will "probably" be called up as the 26th man to start the night game. ... Mike Pelfrey (0-2, 7.32) will start the first game for Minnesota and Kris Johnson will make his major league debut in the nightcap. ... Injured ace Clayton Kershaw makes his second minor league rehab start on Wednesday. If all goes well, Mattingly said Kershaw could rejoin the rotation later this week. ... The Target Field scoreboard displayed the score of Game 7 between the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche in the NHL playoffs. Kyzir White Jersey . Thaddeus Young scored seven of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, Evan Turner added 22 points, and the 76ers hung on for their first road win since Nov. 1, beating the depleted Los Angeles Lakers 111-104 on Sunday night. Jatavis Brown Jersey . This game was inside. Adrian Peterson was missing. The stage was set for another step toward the playoffs. http://www.chargersauthenticshop.com/Chargers-Melvin-Ingram-Draft-Jersey/ . Pretty good hitting, too. Dan Haren pitched six innings and sparked the go-ahead rally with a single, leading Los Angeles to another win over the skidding Atlanta Braves, 4-2 on Tuesday night. DETROIT -- The banged-up Pittsburgh Penguins took another hit. They just hope its not a big one. Evgeni Malkin had a goal and two assists before hurting his left leg early in the third period of Pittsburghs 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. "He was walking around after the game," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. Malkin was in fact walking, but with a noticeable limp. He got tangled up with Detroits Luke Glendening, lost his balance and his left skate took the brunt of a collision with the boards behind Pittsburghs net. Malkin slowly got up and kept his left skate in the air as he was helped off the ice. He was called for holding on the play, but couldnt serve the penalty because he was being evaluated. Malkin moved past the 600-point mark for his career during the game and ranks among league leaders with 41 points this season. NHL scoring leader Sidney Crosby scored two goals to help the Penguins win without standout defenceman Kris Letang, who was a late scratch because of an upper-body injury. "Losing Kris before the game was tough," Crosby said. "We stuck with it and found a way." Pittsburgh defenceman Brooks Orpik hasnt played since being punched Dec. 7 by Bostons Shawn Thornton, who was suspended by the league for 15 games on Saturday. The Penguins might lose another player from their blue line because the NHL is trying to crack down on blows above the shoulders. Defenceman Deryk Engelland put himself in danger of being suspended for an illegal hit to the head. Engelland landed his right shoulder high on Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader late in the first period and was ejected with a match penalty. Abdelkader struggled to get up, had to be helped off the ice and didnt return. "He dumps it in and I try to finish my check," Engelland said. "Obviously Im not trying to hit him in the head or anything like that, but I think I catch his chin a little bit before his body." Detroit defenceman Brendan Smith was suspended for five games two years ago for a similar hit. "I know what it feels like beccause Ive been in that position," Smith said. Doug Flutie Jersey. "Its a quick game, things happen." Pittsburghs Jeff Zatkoff made 28 saves, getting the start in part because he was playing near his hometown of Sterling Heights, Mich. "He was pretty pumped up about playing back here at Joe Louis against the Red Wings," Bylsma said. "He was strong." Jonas Gustavsson gave up three goals on 13 shots through two periods, playing in place of injured starter Jimmy Howard, and finished with 21 saves. "When you let four goals in its tough to win," he said. "I got to be better." The Red Wings got off to a good start. They went ahead 1-0 at 6:09 of the first period when Niklas Kronwalls shot just inside the blue line went off Crosbys stick, bounced off the ice and got past Zatkoff. The lead didnt last long. Detroit went to the penalty box twice midway through the first period and the NHLs top team on the power play took advantage. Crosby scored at 9:08 of the first and Malkin made it 2-1 at the 12:50 mark of the period. The Red Wings outshot Pittsburgh 14-4 in the second, which started with them on the power play for four-plus minutes because of Engellands penalty, but didnt score. "We didnt do enough with it," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "We had some looks. Their guy made some saves, but we were perimeter on the power play. Power play is establishing a net-front presence, shooting the puck and getting it back and outworking them to get retrievals and be on top of them." Olli Maatta gave Pittsburgh a two-goal lead in the final minute of the second period. Crosby, who started the night with an NHL-high 44 points, scored his second goal with five-plus minutes left. "We started well on the power play and then were able to shut them down on the five-minute power play," Crosby said. "That was an important part of the game." NOTES: Bylsma (U.S.) and Babcock (Canada) will lead their countries in two months at the Winter Olympics. ... Penguins D Brian Dumoulin made his NHL debut.
