Kansas City, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Sporting Kansas City announced Thursday that club has signed former on-loan midfielder Jimmy Medranda to a permanent contract from Colombian side Deportivo Pereira. "Jimmy is a good, young talent with a lot of potential," Sporting manager Peter Vermes said in a statement. "It was a goal of ours to try to re-sign him at the end of this season as a Sporting Kansas City player as opposed to being on loan. Were excited to have been able to accomplish that goal." Medranda has signed a multi-year contract with the reigning MLS Cup champions and will be added to to the teams 2014 roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Consider that Lawrie already has eight home runs, going deep in 4.8 per cent of his at-bats. Thats a marked uptick from last year (2.7 per cent) and 2012 (2.2 per cent).
