As written by Terry Jones of The Edmonton Sun, Oilers GM Craig MacTavish looks like hes keen on retaining the teams first-round pick in this Junes NHL draft. Upon his hiring, MacTavish said the team didnt, "need another teenager, another 18-year-old kid coming in here next year," but Jones writes the perspective could change if the Oilers have a top five pick. No Sitting Still In another story in The Sun, Jones writes that while MacTavish wont be tempted into making a deal for the sake of dealing, it doesnt mean hell be inactive going into the Mar. 5 deadline. "The next deal is going to be an important deal for us," he told Jones. "Its going to be important we make the right move. "There have only been 12 deals made this year and weve made four of them. You can argue the pluses and minus of the four deals we made. Were trying to do something. Wed be crazy not to. Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon (14 REC, 190 YDS, 20 targets) had a monster game against Denver and has accrued 326 receiving yards in the last two weeks. With Cecil Shorts nursing a shoulder injury, Blackmon is the one bona fide receiving threat on a team that is expected to be trailing on the scoreboard every week. 2. Browns WR Josh Gordon (7 REC, 126 YDS, 9 targets) has been a monster since returning to the Browns lineup. His 107.3 yards per game ranks third, behind only Justin Blackmon and Julio Jones. 3. Texans RB Arian Foster (198 YDS, 24 touches) has rolled up 487 yards from scrimmage in the last three weeks. If Houston has a chance to turn around their season, despite iffy quarterback play, it may depend on Foster leading the offensive charge. 4. 49ers TE Vernon Davis (8 REC, 180 YDS, 2 TD, 11 targets) can be a tease, not least of all because of his inconsistent quarterback, but after a huge game against Arizona, hes tied for third with six receiving touchdowns and ranks fourth among tight ends with 404 receiving yards. 5. Chargers WR Keenan Allen (9 REC, 107 YDS, 1 TD) is stepping to the forefront as the top receiver with Malcom Floyd and Danario Alexander on IR. He had eight catches for 110 yards in three games before busting out the last two weeks for 15 catches, 222 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Considering how Philip Rivers has resurrected his career, Allen figures to reap rewards all season. 6. Eagles QB Nick Foles (22-for-31, 296 YDS, 3 TD) took over the Eagles offence and didnt miss a beat, spreading the ball around evenly. WR Riley Cooper (4 REC, 120 YDS, 1 TD), WR DeSean Jackson (6 REC, 64 YDS, 2 TD), WR Jason Avant (4 REC, 21 YDS) and TE Zach Ertz (3 REC, 13 YDS) were each targeted six times. 7. Packers RB Eddie Lacy (120 YDS, 23 carries) hasnt had the smoothest start to his pro career, with injuries slowing him down early in the year, but with 219 rushing yards on 46 carries in the last two games, Lacy is looking ready to handle the workhorse load for the Packers. 8. Rams RB Zac Stacy (90 YDS, 20 touches) has emerged as the frontrunner in the St. Louis backfield. Daryl Richardson, who started the year atop the depth chart, had just 23 yards on four touches against Houston. 9. Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (50 YDS, 1 TD, 9 touches) suffered a sprained MCL and will miss at least Week Seven, if not more action. With Murray out, rookie Joseph Randle (32 YDS, 1 TD, 13 touches) will get his chance for the Cowboys but, given Randles minimal track record, it could be more reasonable to expect the Cowboys passing game to hold even more sway in the offence. 10. Panthers QB Cam Newton (20-for-26, 242 YDS, 3 TD; 30 YDS, 1 TD, 9 carries) gets maligned for inconsistent performance, but the big games tend to offset the bad ones and hes sitting seventh among quarterbacks in fantasy value. 11. Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (110 YDS, 2 TD, 21 touches) had fewer than 50 yards from scrimmage in his first three games of the season, followed by 79 in his fourth before sitting out Week Five and then returning with a vengeance in Week Six. Will he finally provide value to fantasy owners who hitched their wagon to him on draft day? 12. Raiders WR Denarius Moore (5 REC, 82 YDS, 1 TD, 10 targets) has 354 yards and three touchdowns in the last four weeks. Aside from Week Two, when he had no catches on two targets against the Jaguars, Moore has been productive every week for Oakland. 13. Injuries to Randall Cobb and James Jones leave Jordy Nelson (4 REC, 113 YDS, 1 TD, 10 targets) and Jarrett Boykin (1 REC, 43 YDS, 6 targets) as the top two wideouts on the Packers depth chart. TE Jermichael Finley is likely to get more looks and the Packers could use the running game more too, while they adjust to the loss of those productive receivers. 14. Giants WR Rueben Randle (3 REC, 75 YDS, 1 TD, 5 targets) continues to play a significant role in the Giants troubled passing game. While he and Manning arent always on the same page, Randle is a big-play threat and the Giants No. 3 receiver has actually had more fantasy value than No. 2 Hakeem Nicks, ranking tied for 26th, with Julian Edelman and T.Y. Hilton in fantasy points per game (8.2). 15. Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (128 YDS, 2 TD, 27 touches) continues to sit second in yards from scrimmage (775), but his seven touchdowns gives him the highest fantasy value among running backs. 16. Eagles RB LeSean McCoy (171 YDS, 1 fumble, 27 touches) remains the runaway leader in yards from scrimmage, with 871, but with only three touchdowns, hes behind both Charles and Adrian Peterson in fantasy points per game. 17. Bears RB Matt Forte (111 YDS, 25 touches) remains productive, quietly climbing to fourth among running backs in yards from scrimmage with 686 (114.3 yards per game). 18. Lions RB Reggie Bush (135 YDS, 1 TD, 22 touches) had another big game against the Brown. Its the third time in five games this season that hes gained at least 135 yards from scrimmage. 19. Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (155 YDS, 2 TD, 25 touches) has had more than 100 yards from scrimmage in four of the last five games, th only miss in that span was in Week Three against Jacksonville when he had 69 yards on 17 carries in a 45-17 rout. 20. One positive for the Vikings in Week Six was TE Kyle Rudolph (9 REC, 97 YDS, 1 TD), who came into the year with some hype, but that was the first game in which hed put up more than 50 yards. 21. Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (6 REC, 117 YDS, 1 TD, 1 fumble, 12 targets) was considered doubtful going into Sundays game against the 49ers, then proceeded to have his most productive game of the season. 22. Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (9 REC, 114 YDS, 2 TD, 14 targets) emerged from a month-long slumber with his second 100-yard game of the season. If its a sign that he might have found something with QB Mike Glennon, in the absence of injured WR Mike Williams, then maybe it will be a positive going forward. 23. Lions TE Joseph Fauria (3 REC, 34 YDS, 3 TD, 3 targets) may have set off a fantasy stampede this week, after scoring three touchdowns against Cleveland, but theres a lot of risk in taking a player just based on touchdowns. He has seven catches on the season, five for scores, and while hes a matchup challenge at 6-foot-7, hes not valuable in fantasy until he starts getting more consistent targets offensively. 24. A quad injury makes it unlikely that Cowboys DE DeMarcus Ware will play in Week Seven, and he could miss more time than that, costing Dallas one of the games premier pass rushers. Since arriving in the league in 2005, Ware has recorded 115 sacks, the most in the NFL. 25. Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (104 YDS, 3 TD, 22 touches) is building a gap ahead of Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball in the Broncos running back rotation. In the last two weeks, he has 254 yards and four touchdowns on 46 touches, maaking it pretty tough to knock him off the starters pedestal.dddddddddddd. 26. Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (86 YDS, 18 carries resurrected some of his value against Buffalo, but it didnt come at the expense of RB Giovani Bernard (100 YDS, 1 TD, 21 touches) who continued his stellar rookie season. Despite splitting carries, Bernard ranks second among rookies with 237 rushing yards. 27. Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (92 YDS, 1 TD, 12 touches) continues to produce more than Rashard Mendenhall (42 YDS, 11 touches). There does seem an inevitability to the way this competition is going. 28. Bills QB Thaddeus Lewis (19-for-32, 216 YDS, 2 TD, 17 YDS, 1 TD, 7 carries) came off the practice squad and performed much better than expected against a Bengals pass defence that ranks sixth in yards per attempt and ninth in yards per game. WR T.J. Graham (4 REC, 74 YDS, 6 targets) was Lewis most effective receiver. With Stevie Johnson out, Robert Woods (2 REC, 9 YDS, 6 targets) had an opportunity to step up, but didnt have immediate results with the new quarterback. 29. With Lions WR Calvin Johnson (3 REC, 25 YDS, 8 targets) ineffective as he tried to play through injury, Kris Durham (8 REC, 83 YDS, 13 targets) emerged as the most prominent threat among Detroit wideouts. 30. Saints RB Pierre Thomas (80 YDS, 12 touches, 1 fumble) and Darren Sproles (73 YDS, 13 touches) had relatively even duty in the Saints backfield against New England, but Khiry Robinson (53 YDS, 1 TD, 7 carries) is working his way into the conversation while Mark Ingram is hurt. 31. Chargers RB Ryan Mathews (102 YDS, 22 carries) had his best game of the season against Indianapolis, but Danny Woodhead (83 YDS, 14 touches) continued to be productive in his change-of-pace role. 32. Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (106 YDS, 2 TD, 22 carries) ran with some power against Chicago, proving to be the best option the Giants have had in the backfield this season. With David Wilson out, Jacobs still has the lead with Andre Brown at least three weeks away from returning. The G-Men are adding Peyton Hills too, but Jacobs is intriguing as a short-term fill-in. 33. With starting running back Alfred Morris dealing with a rib injury, Washingtons second-string RB, Roy Helu (77 YDS, 10 touches), has become a bigger part of the offence, gaining 151 yards from scrimmage in the last two games. 34. Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya (85 YDS, 1 TD, 12 touches) is becoming more viable as a fantasy option, though his role seems inversely-dependent on the success of Willis McGahee. If McGahee struggles, that will mean more looks for Ogbonnaya. 35. Raiders RB Darren McFadden (83 YDS, 19 touches) returned to the lineup and his 19 touches were his most since Week Two, which left Rashad Jennings and Marcel Reese as afterthoughts in the Oakland offence. 36. Panthers RB Mike Tolbert (47 YDS, 2 TD, 10 touches) doesnt put up big yardage totals, but his two touchdowns against Minnesota cut into the appeal of an otherwise strong showing by starting RB DeAngelo Williams (117 YDS, 22 touches). 37. Jets RB Bilal Powell (50 YDS, 12 touches) remains the first choice in the backfield, ahead of Mike Goodson (39 YDS, 5 touches) and Chris Ivory (16 YDS, 4 carries) who, admittedly, did get some action in the loss to Pittsburgh. 38. Buccaneers WR (or undersized TE) Tim Wright (7 REC, 91 YDS, 9 targets) is emerging as a threat in the Tampa Bay offence. Wright played with QB Mike Glennon at Rutgers and, with a dozen catches for 132 yards in the last two weeks, hes worth keeping an eye on. 39. Ravens WR Torrey Smith (1 REC, 12 YDS, 4 targets) was held in check by the Packers - the first time this season that Smith had fewer than 85 yards receiving, so Tandon Doss (4 REC, 99 YDS, 6 targets) played a bigger role. In the last three games, Doss has 11 catches for 204 yards, enough to generate fantasy interest if he could add a touchdown to the mix every once in a while. 40. Giants QB Eli Manning (14-for-26, 239 YDS, 1 TD, 3 INT) continued his miserable season. His 15 interceptions is easily worst in the league and his completion percentage (53.7%) ranks ahead of only Blaine Gabbert and Josh Freeman among qualified quarterbacks. 41. Texans QB Matt Schaub (15-for-21, 186 YDS) suffered a leg injury in the loss to St. Louis, which gave T.J. Yates (12-for-17, 98 YDS, 2 INT) an opportunity, which he generally botched. If Schaub cant go, its possible that Yates or even Case Keenum could see game action against Kansas City. 42. Titans RB Chris Johnson (54 YDS, 15 touches) continues to kill fantasy owners. He ranks 18th with 327 rushing yards and his 3.1 yards per carry is worst among backs with at least 100 carries. 43. Colts RB Trent Richardson (53 YDS, 11 touches) was supposed to give Indianapolis a grind-it-out back, particularly once Ahmad Bradshaw was out for the year, but Richardson is having a hard enough time producing more than Donald Brown (34 yards, 5 touches). 44. The Vikings, with no real answers at quarterback, have decided to give Josh Freeman the nod in Week Seven. Freeman completed 45.7% of his passes for Tampa Bay this season, worst among qualified quarterbacks. Theres upside for wide receivers Greg Jennings and Jerome Simpson, as well as TE Kyle Rudolph, but Freemans erratic play -- particularly in a new offence -- could mean some growing pains too. 45. The most productive non-QB available in more than half of TSN leagues is K Mason Crosby who, despite averaging 12 points per game which is tied for most among kickers, is owned in just 24.7% of leagues. Phil Dawson, averaging 6.5 points per game, is owned in 89.6% of leagues. 46. Packers ILB A.J. Hawk (10 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 TFL), who spends much of his time maligned for not being a star, had a career-high three sacks against Baltimore on Sunday. It was the third time in 89 career games that Hawk had registered more than one sack. 47. Chiefs OLB Tamba Hali (3.5 sacks) was a force against Oakland, but its no surprise. Since 2010, he ranks third with 43 sacks, behind only DeMarcus Ware and Jared Allen. 48. Bills SS DaNorris Searcy (16 tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFL) had a big game against Cincinnati, only the second time in 37 games that he finished with more than eight total tackles. 49. But, if were looking at Bills defenders with standout performances, rookie MLB Kiko Alonso (22 total tackles) had a game for the age and now leads the league with 66 total tackles. 50. Other defenders with productive games: Lions MLB DeAndre Levy (7 tackles, 2 INT); Chiefs OLB Derrick Johnson (9 tackles, 2 sacks); Panthers S Mike Mitchell (7 tackles, 1 sacks, 2 INT); Panthers OLB Thomas Davis (9 tackles, 2 sacks), Rams OLB Alex Ogletree (10 tackles, 98-yard TD return); Saints MLB Curtis Lofton (12 tackles, 1 sack), Cardinals OLB Karlos Dansby (11 tackles, .5 sack, 3 PD).
