It took some courage for British novice Tom Breese to leave his hometown and knock on the door of a Canadian gym with the expectation of training alongside a UFC legend. Montreal is a cold and unforgiving environment, the perfect location for the Tristar gym that bred pound-for-pound great Georges St-Pierre and current world title contender Rory MacDonald. When Birminghams Breese, just 21-years-old with a humble 6-0 record at the time, turned up with a one-way ticket he was welcomed - for as long as he lasted. Nearly four years later, he has been on the pay-roll and is now one of Tristars biggest hopes. I ended up going out to Montreal just for a few weeks but I was asked to stay on for a Georges St-Pierre training camp for one of his UFC title fights. Tom Breese Originally, I was training under Marc Goddard who is a UFC referee now, Breese exclusively told Sky Sports. He wanted me to go out to Canada and he knew the coaches, so I snapped up the opportunity.I ended up going out to Montreal just for a few weeks but I was asked to stay on for a Georges St-Pierre training camp for one of his UFC title fights. That was a great opportunity and I learned so much from that experience. Its great to see how he trained, especially when he was fighting. Hes in the gym a lot, he teaches every Monday, and hes a big help. Georges St-Pierre is the greatest welterweight ever Georges coaches me and the other guys. I was training with him this week. We give each other advice and we help each other grow.Breese is now a 10-0 welterweight with three UFC victories - perhaps more impressive is that the Tristar coaching staff have kept hold of the Birmingham boy. They know a decent welterweight when they see one, having overseen St-Pierres five-year world title reign. His next fight against Sean Strickland is on the undercard to fellow Brit Michael Bispings world title shot. For Breese, he has come full circle since going to his first classes to emulate Bisping. Michael Bisping was just starting so I grew up seeing him. I fell in love with MMA and Ive dedicated my life to it. Since the first day I went to the gym I took it seriously and wanted to be a champion.I saw that the 170lbs weight class was stacked so I wanted to come over to Canada and see what the level is like.Im outside of the bubble which is good because I stay focused and humble. Im prepared to be the best fighter I can be. Id like to be a champion whether its [Britains] first, or just a champion in general. Im on my own journey. But, as I say, I do miss home at times. Breese tangles with last opponent Keita Nakamura But will that journey ever bring Breese back to these shores permanently?Canada is still not home in terms of outside the gym with friends and family, he said. Its very different to home but the people are nice - its half-English and half-French. Ive tried to learn French and I can understand some of it, but my Brummie accent makes it too hard to pronounce the words! Amit Mishra, Indias leg spinner, foxed New Zealands batsmen by claiming a five-for that helped the hosts thrash their opponents by a massive 190-run margin in the fifth and final ODI of the series played in Vishkhapatnam on Saturday. At the toss, Kane Williamson, New Zealands captain, said that he expected due to play a part in thwarting Indias plans of playing three spinner on a slow-dry surface. Indias spinners - and Mishra in particular - proved him wrong, as he excelled and wrecked the visitors middle order with figures of five for 18 in his six-over spell.New Zealands bowlers had earlier restricted India to 269 in their innings after MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bat first. Indias top four found runs but their relatively inexperienced middle order lost their way at the death and failed to push their side closer to the 300-run mark.New Zealands batsmen would have backed themselves to chase Indias target and in the process claim the series. However, Indias bowlers were in no mood to lose ground to the visitors. Umesh Yadav dismissed opener Martin Guptill, who had top-scored for New Zealand in the fourth ODI, in the first over itself. An in form Tom Latham followed five-overs later and fell to Jasprit Bumrah. The biggest blow to New Zealands chances came in the 15th over when Axar Patel accounted for Williamson for 27. His departure triggered a collapse, as Mishra stepped to the fore. Mishra dismissed James Neesham and Tim Southee an over later. New Zealand by the 20th over were struggling at 74 for 8. Mishra then accounted for Ish Sodhi to complete his second five-for in ODIs. Patel finished the contest by dismissing Mithcell Santner for 4.In the ODI series, Mishra claimed 15 wickets - which is the most by any bowler in a five-match ODI series against New Zealand. The previous best was 13 by Darren Gough in 2001-02 and Sunil Narine in 2012. Mishras tally is also the second-best by an India bowler in a five-match series. Its great for the team if I perform like this, theyve supported me during tough phases. At the start, I was a little tense, but Dhoni told me to calm down, bowl at the wickets, and thanks to that, all went well, Mishra said. There was bounce and spin in the pitch, so bowling slowly, bowling normally worked for me. Anil Kumble also talked to me about it before the match, to trust my strength, to trust the flighted balls. Axar Patel has also been doing well, and if newcomers keep doing well like this, it will be good for India. Very happy with the way I am bowling, hopefully I can continue. All credit to my coaches, MS, Kohli, Ajinkya, everyone. ' ' '
